The Meaning of Erhib — A Sacred Welcome
In Jordan, when a guest crosses your threshold, the first word spoken is “Erhib” (إرحب) — an ancient, warm expression meaning “Welcome, you are honored among family.”
Moments later, freshly crushed cardamom beans are brewed with finely ground roast in a copper rakwah, and poured steaming into finjan cups. In our culture, to pour coffee is to pour respect.
Distributed in the United States by Dar Online LLC (Beaverton, Oregon), Erhib Coffee brings this centuries-old hospitality tradition directly to coffee connoisseurs across the USA. Every pouch is sealed with the authentic essence, fragrance, and velvety golden crema (al-wajh) of the Levant.
Slow Medium Roast
Gentle roasting preserves natural bean sweetness without bitterness.
Grade-A Green Cardamom
Freshly milled pods deliver an invigorating, citrus-warm floral note.
The Silk Grind
Micron-level milling produces the signature dense, frothy crema.
“To pour coffee is not merely serving a drink; it is honoring an unbreakable bond between host and guest.”
The Brewing Ritual
Brewing Turkish coffee is not a rush; it is a mindful ceremony. Follow these four timeless steps to coax out the fragrant cardamom aroma and a thick, velvety crown of crema (al-wajh).
The Cold Water
Measure cold, filtered water using your traditional finjan (espresso demitasse cup). Pour into your copper rakwah or cezve (approx. 60–75 ml per serving).
The Erhib Measure
Add 1 heaping teaspoon (around 7–8g) of Erhib Turkish Coffee per cup. Add sugar now if desired (none, medium, or sweet). Stir gently just once to blend.
Gentle Low Heat
Place the pot over low heat. Do not stir again. Allow the coffee to warm slowly so the cardamom blossoms and a thick dark foam begins to form on top.
The Crema (Wajh)
Just as the foam rises towards the rim, remove from heat immediately before boiling. Spoon the foam evenly into each finjan, then slowly pour the coffee down the side.
The Erhib Experience
Loved by Turkish coffee purists across the United States.
“The moment I slit open the bag, the fresh cardamom aroma filled my entire kitchen. It is smooth, perfectly balanced, and produces the most velvety crema I have ever managed to brew at home in the US.”
“Authentic Jordanian Turkish coffee is notoriously hard to find in the States. Erhib Coffee got the grind texture and cardamom proportion exactly right. It instantly takes me back to early mornings in Amman.”
“Ordered the 1 lb pouch for our family gatherings. Everyone commented on how refined and aromatic it tasted compared to ordinary store brands. Shipping was surprisingly fast from Oregon!”
